20240513 Mouldy Goes to Seville – MGS Session 075

Guadarrama

Folks,

Thank you for visiting the site where we aim to provide regular updates of the challenge Mouldy Goes to Seville

In earlier sessions we explained how we would simulate the cycle, you can read about it here

Todays route

The cycle route today was following the route through the Guadarrama National Park to Guadarrama

The direction of travel was running south and west, with the descent commencing from the top of the Iberian Peninsula, and of the Central Plateau

On this session we managed to achieve climbing to 6132 feet above sea level, which is the highest point in the cycle

The cycle continued through the autonomous region Community of Madrid

The route, including the climbing had some similarities of the route from Santander and the R2L in 2017, up onto the Spanish plains. (Lovely memories of the R2L Team and beautiful country of Spain)

We enclose a screen shot/s from bkool application of routes/ sessions

From Strava we enclose screen shots of what was achieved in this session

Today’s cycle

Prior to the cycle today I had experienced some challenges in recent months.

With medical advise received, determined that that rest would be my best friend

During today we made a fourth session in today with the total cycling time equating to 2 hrs and 44 minutes.

Naturally during Tuesday we will gauge physical reactions and determine the level of intensity for Tuesday

The landscape in this session related to an initial climb where we reached the top of the Iberian Peninsula at 6132 feet, before making a long descent which lasted over ten miles.

With over 6500 feet climbed in recent sessions this descent was certainly welcomed

This cycle is all about gradually building myself up, with a focus on sustainability where we hope to avoid any major injury relapse. You can read more about the why here.

Today’s kit

Focusing on comfort and the fact that I am a big frame, tight lycra is currently not my friend.

Therefore I decided to wear something more comfortable from the Celtic shirt collection and plan to do so for the foreseeable future

Keeping with the theme of goalkeeper shirt’s, I wore the Red Goalkeeper shirt from Season 2017 / 2018 by New Balance

This shirt brings back special memories as it is one of the goalkeeper shirts which was worn during the 7 in a row season.

We also won a double treble that season, and overall this contributed to the the nine in a row.

The kit is pictured below with a pleasant backdrop of the green away shirt also by New Balance,

The 50 th Anniversary of Lisbon badge also from season 2017/2018 was visible on each of the shirts

Kit = 2017 2018 – Celtic – Goalkeeper shirt – Red
