Mouldy’s crazy cycles, charity projects.

Background

My name is Paul Muldoon. I am a proud member of the Global Celtic Family and a keen cyclist.

Back in 2009, one of our friends from CQN, Martin “Kano” Kane, was diagnosed with Devic’s syndrome. To support the necessary adaptations to his home, we launched a campaign that brought together various fundraising events — including a cycle.

That experience planted the seed.

Where It Began

In 2012, I took part in my first multi-day cycling event — a four-day journey as part of the 1254125 campaign. We cycled 243 miles from the birthplace of Brother Walfrid in Ballymote, Sligo, to St Mary’s in Glasgow, before completing the journey at Celtic Park.

I undertook this alongside my dad (support driver) and five other cyclists, and it was a truly unforgettable experience.

That journey became the inspiration to take on longer and more challenging cycles, walks, hill climbing whilst continuing to raise funds for causes close to our hearts.

Growing the Journey

Over the years, as a supporter volunteer, project manager. I’ve been fortunate to organise and take part in a number of cycling challenges in support of:

  • The Wee Oscar Knox campaign
  • Solving Kids’ Cancer
  • Children in Crossfire
  • The Celtic FC Foundation

In 2017, I managed to persuade 29 others to join me on a cycle from Celtic Park in Glasgow to the Estádio Nacional in Lisbon, marking the 50th anniversary of the Lisbon Lions.

Together, we raised £74,000 for charity, creating memories that will last a lifetime.

Building Something Bigger

Through organising these campaigns and sharing them across multiple social media channels, it became clear that there was a need to create a platform — somewhere to launch new projects, tell the story of each journey, and capture lasting memories for everyone involved.

As many would say when I bring forward a new idea: “Mouldy, is this another one of your crazy ideas?”

Mouldy67’s Crazy Cycles

With the support of Willie Brown, who kindly volunteered his time and expertise, we built this website to provide a dynamic platform for charity projects.

It’s a space to:

  • Launch projects
  • Share each stage of the journey
  • Bring supporters closer to the challenge
  • Capture moments that will last long beyond the finish line

Within the site there is a section for Mouldy’s blog and there is also a section for Charity project’s which show some recent and current projects

This is more than just cycling. It’s about community, challenge, and making a difference together.
