20240220 Mouldy Goes to Seville – MGS Session 033

Folks,

Thank you for visiting the site where aim to provide regular updates of the challenge “Mouldy Goes to Seville”

In earlier sessions we explained how we would simulate the cycle, you can read about it here

Todays route

The route today continued along the Rio Jerea river

The direction of travel was running west through the Cantabrian mountain range.

Again like previous session, the route had some similarities to the climbing from Santander during the R2L in 2017, onto the Spanish plains (Lovely memories of R2L Team and beautiful country of Spain)

We enclose a screen shot/s from bkool application of planned routes/ sessions

Progress in this session

From Strava we enclose screen shots of what was achieved in this session

Today’s cycle

Prior to the cycle today we had experienced some challenges during December, January and February.

With medical advise received, determined that that rest would be my best friend

Today’s cycle was very much about getting back on the bike and establishing if there would be adverse reaction/s and therefore had decided to keep the cycle short. (Safety first approach taken)

The gradients today were a little bumpy at times with some short 9 and 16 percent gradients

This cycle is all about gradually building myself up, with a focus on sustainability where we hope to avoid any major injury relapse. You can read more about the why here.

Today’s kit

Focusing on comfort and the fact that I am a big frame, tight lycra is currently not my friend.

Therefore we decided to wear something more comfortable from the Celtic shirt collection and plan to do so for the foreseeable future

Keeping with gold / luminous theme, we had decided to wear the most recent Catholic United away strip

The kit is pictured below with a pleasant backdrop of the current and previous years Catholic United home shirts.

This is the team that helped our Cameron Carter Vickers launch his career back in 2009.

On the Road To Seville Cycle., we also had a former player Paulo aka “Paul O Byrne” take part in the cycle as well.
