20231010 Mouldy Goes to Seville – MGS Session 008 & 009

Folks,

Thank you for visiting the site where aim to provide regular updates of the challenge “Mouldy Goes to Seville”

In earlier sessions we explained how we would simulate the cycle, you can read about it here

Todays route

The route today took us from the hotel at Belfast docks heading south in the direction of Newry.

Coming out of the dock area put me mind of Cycling Santa’s from December 2014 when myself good cycling pal Steve Taylor, had been making the penultimate leg of the cycle from the docks up to the big hospital on the Falls Road.

At the hospital we would meet up with Clare another one of our cyclists, Wee Oscar’s mum Leona, Dad Stephen along with team Nikki from Solving Kids Cancer and some of the nursing staff at the hospital.

On todays cycle I made a stop close to Magherconluce, before heading south and west towards Newry where I stopped just north of the town.

Today’s cycle

In recent days we had complained about the hills, today whilst there was a good bit of climbing this did feel more spread out.

We achieved some new milestones by cycling for more than 215 minutes and achieving 42 miles and 1770 feet of climbing.

Factoring in the rehab work, along with my physical and mental outlook towards the end of July, when we had been working to 10/15 minute cycles every couples of days, today was huge !

We have some big days and plenty of hills ahead.

We keep going !

Today’s kit

Focusing on comfort and the fact that I am a big frame, tight lycra is currently not my friend.

Therefore we decided to wear something more comfortable from the Celtic shirt collection and plan to do so for the foreseeable future

Keeping with gold theme, had decided to select the Celtic away top from Martin O’Neills 1st season, where our treble winning captain and foundation Ambassador Tom Boyd wore when playing Hibees in the final of the 2000/2001 season

The kit is pictured below with a pleasant backdrop of the “Gold” kit from from 1987 season
