20231030 Des Tinney – Celtic Foundation – John Muir Way

Folks,

Back in 2009 I first met Des when we were part of group of nine folks making the Bringing Martin “kano” home cycle from Glasgow to Edinburgh

A few years later when we had been planning the four cycles to Belfast, Des again was one of the first to volunteer to take part in cycle for Wee Oscar from Glasgow to Belfast.

The cycles were planned to help raise awareness and funds for the Wee Oscar 4 life campaign in March 2013

In recent years Des had managed to keep up his fitness by cycling and running and can be regularly seen pounding the streets of Glasgow, Falkirk and Edinburgh

We had recently caught up to hear of some the new challenges that Des was planning.

Namely to compete in the John Muir run which stretches from Helensburgh on the west coast to Dunbar on the east coast of Scotland. You can read more about the John Muir

We are delighted to advise that Des recently completed this run between Friday morning and Sunday evening, making a run of 135.37 miles in just over 30 hrs. WOW!

This weekends run:

Plan for next year:

Des explained that taking part in this crazy run as part of training for a bigger event early next year !

In September 2024, Des plans to run the Camino de Santiago (Pilgrimage of Compostela), from Saint Jean Pied-de-pot in France to Santiago de Compostela, Spain. Going through the town of Leon it will be 800 KM in 14 days!

Des plans to do this to raise funds for two organisations close to Des’s heart, The Celtic FC Foundation and The Green Runners.
