20230910 Jock, Oscar, Steve

Firstly, The Celtic Story last evening was very good and emotional at times. With a challenge to cram 135 years of unbroken history into two hours, that must have been challenging for the writers. Overall, I was delighted to get along with some family members to see it. I won’t mention anything about proceedings or any of the quips as the show had at least another week to run.

On cycling, we managed to complete some rehabilitation cycling earlier today achieving the 60 minutes and staying on plan, we opted for more a flatter route today. Whilst the fan helped provide some air, overall the conditions where warm. At times during this afternoon/evening had felt a little tight with some tension and hope that this will pass as I am keen to get three in a row Monday.

On memories, the 10th of September is also our wee pal, Oscar James Knox’s birthday where he would have been 15 today. Our thoughts are with his lovely family, Stephen, Leona, Izzy and Casper. In coming weeks, we will speak more about Oscar who had been an inspiration to myself personally for many years now.

During last night’s Celtic Story as you can imagine Jock Stein played huge part in the history of Celtic Football Club. I recall as 12-year-old watching the Wales Scotland match at Ninian Park, Cardiff where sadly Jock had passed away 38 years ago on 10th September 1985. Even after heading into school the next day, it just not seem real with many in shock.

Although my parents had taken me as a toddler to see Celtic play down in Ayr in around 74 or 75. I do not recall having any real memories of seeing any of Jock’s late Celtic teams in the flesh. Through time retrospectively, had positively the opportunity to read books and watch many VHS video of the games from back then. To this date a legend and inspiration to many.

I am not big into reciting poetry or sentences from books; however, Jock’s famous quotes would be top of the list if I ever took that up as a hobby. Many of these still hold remarkably relative and real even today. Thankyou for everything Jock.

Finally, I cannot forget my Crazy cycling pal, Steve Taylor who on this day completed the ride to cure cycle from Brisbane to Adelaide, cycling to 2222 km for the Australian Solving Kids Cancer.

Hoping to get some rest and we pick this journey back up again soon.

Keep the faith, Hail Hail
