20230908 Mouldy’s first blog

Firstly, I would like to thank Willie and the team at Horgabost Media Services for their support in building this platform.

Recently Willie asked me to dig out some old photographs to attach onto the site, what should have been a five- or six-minute task ended up taking best part of two hours. I found myself methodically looking through my phone and different applications for pictures from this year and previous year. As you can imagine when you start to pull out the photographs the memories of the project, why you did it, who was also part of, what the scenery, weather was like, then it all comes flooding back.

In a lot of these memories there was constants, stretching myself, stretching others, making cycles, making the next one slightly bigger or more difficult that then last, making some projects to help with a common goal around in most instances a charity / cause.

When looking at these projects recognised them as another one of “Mouldy’s crazy little cycles or charity projects”. We use this phrase as that would usually, be one of the first responses I would get from friends or family when floating the concept, “that’s sound’s a bit crazy, Mouldy”

Why are we creating another crazy cycle, the main reasons are to help raise much needed funds for Celtic FC Foundation, help the “Road to Seville project” exceed donations of 100 K and finally to improve my health and wellbeing, given challenges recently.

What can we expect from this blog in coming period, is that we will commence a journey which covers elements of the current rehabilitation training, the virtual cycle to Seville, as an output we will aim to raise awareness for Celtic FC Foundation and to raise funds to support the ongoing programmes.

As I have a love for Celtic and keen cyclist then occasionally like watching Netflix, we may go in the time machine and chat about an event in the past which may or may not be related to today’s date.

In terms of progress this week, we can provide some update in relation to my rehabilitation training, last evening I was able to visit our miracle worker Physio to confirm that over the previous 5 consecutive days, a minimum of 45 minutes per day had been achieved on the smart trainer in the exceptional hot loft, with limited reactions.

For some context on the 30th of July 2023, we had nervously starting the journey out at 10-minute sessions with a few days rest in between. In the grand scheme of things myself and physio are delighted with progress, we will take rest today Friday and get going again in a controlled manner working towards the next milestone.

Going down memory lane, 10 years to the date 08/09/2013, around 40 cyclists left Paradise in a very wet and cold Sunday morning to Cycle to Cardenden in Fife, to celebrate the life of John Thompson and to raise awareness and funds for the Celtic FC foundation. With multiple memories from around this time we will look to chat more about that in coming weeks. In the meantime, we share some pictures from that day.
